| Über unser early warning system erreichte uns folgende Meldung zu Kratomprodukten aus den USA. Da heutzutage die Vertriebswege ja oft ungewöhnlich sind, wollte ich die warnung hier auch mal rausgeben. Sollte jemand erkranken, wäre das Kratom wahrscheinlich auch das letzte auf das ich kommen würde. Kratomprodukte mit Salmonellen in den USA: Since at least January 2017, there has been an outbreak of Salmonella bacterial infections in the United States (US) where the available epidemiologic and laboratory evidence indicates that kratom is a likely source of this infection [10]. As of 14 March 2018, at total of 87 people infected with the outbreak strains of Salmonella I 4,[5],12:b:- (50 cases), Salmonella Javiana (5), Salmonella Okatie (16), or Salmonella Thompson (16) have been reported from 35 states [10]. Illnesses occurred between 21 January 2017 and 24 February 2018. Ill people ranged in age from 6 to 67 years (median age of 39). Fifty-five percent of ill people were male. Of 69 people with available information, 27 (39%) were hospitalized. No deaths have been reported [10]. Health officials continue to interview ill people to ask about the foods they ate and other exposures before they became ill. Forty (73%) of 55 people interviewed reported consuming kratom in pills, powder, or tea. Most people report consuming the powder form of kratom. People who reported consuming kratom purchased it from retail locations in several states and from various online retailers [10]. Health officials continue to collect various leftover and unopened kratom products to test for Salmonella contamination [10]. So far: Investigators in North Dakota and Utah collected samples of leftover kratom powder collected from two ill people in those states. The outbreak strain of Salmonella I 4,[5],12:b:- was identified in both samples. The ill person in North Dakota purchased S.K. Herbalist brand kratom powder from the website soapkorner.com. The ill person in Utah purchased kratom powder from the website kratoma.com. Investigators in California collected leftover Phytoextractum brand kratom powder from an ill person in that state. The outbreak strain of Salmonella I 4,[5],12:b:- was identified in this sample. As a result of these findings, PDX Aromatics recalled kratom powder sold online between 18 January 2018 and 18 February 2018. Investigators in Oregon and Utah collected kratom powder from retail locations and online retailers where ill people reported purchasing kratom. Outbreak strains of Salmonella Okatie and Salmonella Thompson were identified in these samples. No brand information was available for the kratom products collected in Oregon. The ill person in Utah purchased kratom powder from the website kratoma.com. Despite the information collected to date about where ill people purchased kratom, no common brands or suppliers of kratom products have been identified by investigators at this time. Due to this, CDC is recommending that people in the US do not use any kratom because it could be contaminated with Salmonella and could make people sick [10]. While currently unknown, it is plausible that the source of the Salmonella contamination in kratom products in the US is from contaminated plant material that has been imported from countries in Southeast Asia. If this is the case, then it is possible that such contamination might also affect kratom products in Europe. In addition, it is also possible that European retailers and consumers may purchase contaminated kratom products from the United States. Therefore, it cannot be excluded that people in Europe might be at risk of Salmonella infection from the use of contaminated kratom products. | Ja krass, im Text stand ja dass es nich ausgeschlossen werden kann, dass es in Europa auch zu Salmonelleninfektionen durch verseuchtes Kratom kommen kann; gibts Berichte dazu, dass es hier auch schon aufgetreten ist, bzw. gibt es Leute hier die aus erster Hand oder auch aus zweiter Hand davon berichten können? | |

| Ja, hab ich doch schon immer gesagt! ne, nicht ganz, aber aber ich habe schon öfters auf die Möglichkeit hingewiesen, dass man sich mit irgendwelchen tropischen Sachen infizieren könnte, an Salmonellen habe ich dabei nie gedacht. Wäre ich jetzt auch nicht drauf gekommen. Jedenfalls wiederhole ich meinen Tipp: Wirklich immer als Tee zubereiten und mit kochendem Wasser übergießen! Kinder, gut aufgepasst! Kräutertee, vor allem für Säuglinge und Kleinkinder, immer mit kochend heißem Wasser überbrühen und 10 Minuten lang ziehen lassen. Niemals Nuckelflaschen mit Wasser und Teebeutel in der Mikrowelle erhitzen, da die Temperatur unter Umständen nicht für die Abtötung der Keime ausreicht.

| Stellt euch mal vor, ihr fangt euch eine Wurminfektion ein :s Hab schon jede Menge in Kapseln verpackt; ich überlege, ob ich es nicht tatsächlich nochmal im Ofen erhitze oder vor dem Konsum koche. | |

| Nicht jeder der Salmonellen zu sich nimmt erkrankt auch. Das ist wohl die Minderheit. | |
